A jury found 49-year-old Kenneth Creek guilty on Tuesday, June 11 of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. The court also found him guilty of second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms.
Atlantic City police responded to the South Carolina Apartments complex at 1300 Baltic Avenue just after midnight on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022. Officers found 31-year-old Jordan Eaddy dead in the grass with two gunshot wounds.
Trial evidence included video showing Creek shoot twice at Eaddy while Eaddy ran away from him. The medical examiner ruled one wound to Eaddy's back caused his death.
Creek claimed he shot at Eaddy in self-defense. Creek was convicted after a seven-day trial.
Prosecutors were seeking 30 years to life in state prison for Creek and his sentencing was scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25.
